This time, our restaurant has planned a special event: “Experience New Zealand Wine with All Five Senses (Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, and Smell).”
For nearly three years during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people were unable to travel abroad, leaving them with a sense of frustration. To make up for this, we wanted to create an event where participants could feel as if they were traveling to New Zealand while staying in Taiwan.
Taste
Over the two-day event, we carefully selected seven rare and valuable New Zealand wines (both red and white), each paired with a specially crafted Western-style course dish to create a perfect dining experience.
Hearing & Smell
To enhance the immersive experience, we played music composed by a Māori musician from New Zealand (with copyright clearance) and used premium New Zealand aroma diffusers (water-based steam type) to add a subtle yet pleasant fragrance without interfering with the dining experience.
Touch
Upon being seated, guests were welcomed with a special welcome drink and received a small gift from New Zealand, allowing them to physically connect with the country’s charm.
Sight
We also invited a New Zealand tourism expert to give a presentation about the country’s attractions, accompanied by a stunning visual showcase of New Zealand’s landscapes on a 100-inch screen. Additionally, a professional sommelier specializing in New Zealand wines explained the unique characteristics of the seven wines, and finally, our head chef, Atsushi Ishibashi, provided insights into the exquisite pairing of the wines with the dishes.
The event received an overwhelming response, with a long waiting list for reservations. Moreover, the in-house sales of New Zealand wines after the meal were highly popular, making it a perfect way to conclude the end of 2022.
We take pride in knowing that this event allowed participants to experience the atmosphere of a trip to New Zealand right here in Taipei!
